Anne’s Role at POP
With a master’s degree in human-centered design practices, plus extensive design and copywriting experience, Anne provides a multi-disciplinary approach to information architecture. A self-professed diagram junkie, Anne understands how visual design, written content, and navigation intersect and can represent these elements in a balanced and comprehensive plan.
Her work has won her several awards, including 100 Best Entries in the 2003 AIGA Pittsburgh 100 Show, Best Human-Centered Product Design at the 2003 Microsoft Research Design Expo, and a 2002 Park Fellowship.
Anne’s History in Arts Marketing
Anne’s first project translating the arts to an online setting was with communication issues surrounding graffiti in Pittsburgh. Though the subject matter was highly controversial, it taught her how to help open people’s minds and learn to handle controversy online. Anne believes this project was a springboard for her work in the arts and found this experience helped prepare her for the advent of blogs and the rest of the web world which, now more than ever, showcases diverse opinions and fosters dialog.
“Usability is my passion — I love working with our clients and their patrons to create websites that are intuitive and effective.”
Why Anne is Excited to be a Part of POP
“I love the people who work at POP. We all work hard but have a lot of fun. People here are so amazingly talented, and we encourage each other to think big.”
Why the Arts are Important to Anne
“I started dancing ballet at age four, followed by jazz, pointe, and tap. In high school I performed at the Aloha Bowl halftime show, and in college I learned salsa and merengue while living in Chile and Puerto Rico. Work is an extension of that love for dance and the arts. And while I’m no longer performing, I promote the people who are. My work helps foster excitement for performance arts to an online audience.”
