Redesigned Website for ArtTix Launches

ArtTix is a ticketing agency owned and operated by Salt Lake County Center for the Arts (SLCO). To achieve their goal of providing world-class ticketing services for Utah’s performing arts and entertainment organizations, SLCO turned to Tessitura for a new box office ticketing system and to POP for a redesigned website with an integrated ticketing solution. The first goal of the redesign was to “knock the socks off” of the ArtTix audience. The second goal was to provide a functional and easy-to-use interface through which patrons can search for performances, quickly see the breadth and depth of available events, and easily purchase tickets. It was important that the new website please the arts and entertainment organizations represented by ArtTix as well as appeal to ticket buyers.


The POP design team created a striking and graceful design for the new site, while the POP technology team incorporated several enhancements to the ticketing path and the homepage to allow frequent updates to the site. The homepage was integrated with Tessitura, using keywords to highlight featured and upcoming productions. This allows SLCO to refresh the look of the site often and promote events associated with all of the arts and entertainment organizations represented on ArtTix. The number of events that can be showcased was also made dynamic, providing SLCO with even greater flexibility.

In the ticketing path, a calendar that displays events by week coupled with a search that can be filtered multiple ways provide patrons with several paths to browse or find events. POP used the “anonymous login” feature to allow patrons to easily add items to the shopping cart and view seat assignments. Patrons are prompted to log in only after they elect to checkout from the cart. Promotion codes are often used by the organizations represented on ArtTix, so fields to enter promotion codes were included on production details and seat selection pages allowing patrons to easily see promotional pricing and availability.

Since the launch of the new ArtTix website, SLCO has taken full advantage of the promotional enhancements by regularly updating their homepage to showcase new events. From all accounts, the new design and ticketing path have been well received by patrons and organizations alike, and ArtTix has distinguished itself from its competitors, setting a new standard of design and usability for local ticketing agencies.
